Birthday Money Box

My latest pinterest stolen idea that I put a twist on is the money box.  I saw the original pin and they used a decorative tissue box.  I decided to cover my box using my scrapbook supplies. It came out so cute.

I added the little pull tab on the top.  It was a great idea and my son loved it as he saw the money keep coming out of the box.I alternated small bills and bigger bills.  So much better then just cash in a card.

Using what I have

I've been scrapbooking for so many years I have soooo much stuff and I like to buy the new stuff coming out but hate to waste things that I have.  I had a scrapbook kit that my sister gave me from Stamping Up that I may have used in my early years of scrapbooking and I thought I could make some holiday cards out of the leftover pieces.  I had some pre-punched out cards I got from AC Moore for $1.00 so I decided to use them as my base and then I just went to work using the pieces from the kit.  I also used a little stickle.  Stickle makes everything go from just ok to wow.  I got out my stamps that I haven't used yet and had to have and did the stamped one below.  I thought the pieces came out cute.  Only took me maybe an hour and I have 5 cute holiday cards to send out.

This one reminded me of me and my sister making snow angels, so I put traditions on the bottom because it was sort-of a tradition that if we played in the snow we had to make snow angels.

Recycled notebook

I'm in my sons room this week and I look down in the garbage and there is a starwars notebook.  He is turning 13 and must have been cleaning out his room and felt he was too old for this notebook.  I asked if I could have it as it was a perfectly good notebook with paper in it.

The next day I covered it with some leftover scrapbook paper, put some stickers on it and a saying that said The Little Stuff.  Tied some ribbons around the spiral part and there you have it a cute little notebook that I will keep in my scraproom as I am always looking for something to write on to test pens, glue, stickle and stamps.  Not to mention I like to keep of list of scrap supplies I may need.  This was bought for $1.00 and you could do this with any dollar store notebook.

New Kitchen!

The Kitchen is complete.  We installed all new appliances, new back splash, pin lights over the counter, and paint.  We also had to modify the cabinets a bit to get the microwave and refrigerator to fit.  Here are before and after pictures.
These two pics have the old backsplash which looked like bathroom tile and the old appliances. The color was like an army green.

The Color is now a nice creamy yellowish.  Really brightens it up.  Love the backsplash.  It has a border in the middle. Matches the granite counterops beautifully.  The Prince did all the work.

Bannana / Strawberry Daiquiri

This is a delicious easy Banana Daiquiri recipe I added just a few strawberries.

Ingredients:

1.5 oz light rum
1 Tblsp Triple Sec
1 tsp. sugar
1 banana sliced, very ripe
Two or three strawberries (optional)

Directions:
Combine all the ingredients plus 1 cup of crushed ice in a blender.  Pour into fancy glass, insert straw, enjoy!

If you try it let me know what you think!

It's been awhile since I last posted.  That's what happens when you go back to work full time for a little while.  But, alas summer is here and my contract work has ended just in time for me to enjoy the summer breeze on the castle steps.  Ahhhh, the castle.   The castle is my dream home that the Prince and I live in with the Court Jester and the Maidan Lady.  Me of course being the princess, and yes I'm living the fairy tale life.  It wasn't always a fairy tale and I went out with a lot of toads and knights that thought they could pass for the Prince.  There were a lot of lonely and sad days spent locked in my tower wondering if my life would ever change ....press play.  My favorite scene from Shrek the Musical.

The Wizard

video
I came across this video of my son Daniel from his 6th grade play The Wizard of Oz.  He played the wizard and he was quite comical.  I tried to post it on You Tube but couldn't get it to load.  His facial expressions are hysterical.

Peeps Smore's

With the help of Pinterest, again, I came up with my version of a little gift to give to the kids at my Easter gathering this year as well as my own kids.  I found the little zip lock bags in the dollar store and filled each one with a peep chick, two graham crackers and a mini hershey chocolate bar.  Then I typed out the directions to make the little peep smore and attached it with a ribbon to the bag.  Cute, quick, gift.

Fabulous New Patio

We didn't plan on doing this this year it just kind of happened and I love it!  We had an old cement patio in the back.

This picture was taken before we moved in.  There was so much brush and over grown foliage, and you couldn't take the garbage out without getting muddy because there was no walkway.

Here is a picture before the brick was layed.  We removed tons of trees and Rich cleaned up a lot of the overgrown brush.

Here is where the walkway will go.

And now the finished product.  It went in fast!

We can't wait for our first BBQ.  It's so sunny and bright now!

Little Shopped out.

What a great week of entertainment from the Murphy Junior High School Drama Club.  The show closed last night.  I've posted a few videos of my star daughter on my youtube account. Once in awhile you can get a fleeting glimpse of my handsome son in the ensemble.  Check out the links to the left.  So proud of both my kids at all their hard work and dedication.  Now onto City of Angels put on by local theater Productions Over the Rainbow.  Emily will be playing Gaby in this show. Whew...I'm tired, can't imagine how the kids feel.

Football

Ok, so it wouldn't be my blog if I did not mention my passion for football.  I have always like football but about 5 years ago was asked to join a fantasy football league with some "guys" at work.  I was the only female in the league, didn't know what I was doing but ended up in the playoffs.  I didn't win but I was hooked.  I went on to create my own fantasy football league but only for women.  It was so much fun.  We are going on our 4th year and all of us anxiously await football season.  Here is a picture of my All Girl Fantasy League from our first year. I am a huge Giants Fan and also like to cheer on the Green Bay Packers.  I got hooked on the Packers my first year of Fantasy Football when Brett Favre was my QB.

Candy Bouquet

So I've got hooked on Pinterest. They have so many fabulous ideas and I have a little extra time on my hands and decided to try some of these creative things.  This one I found and thought it was fabulous for my kids because my son doesn't want flowers for a show and my daughter gets so many I wanted something different. Follow this link to see blogger who I got the idea from.   http://pinterest.com/pin/215750638368796579/
So this is my version of what I came up with. I used skewers and the clear packing tape and some Easter Cellophane wrap that I happen to have. I think they came out cute.

My Scrapbook Room

I have a fabulous Scrapbook room thanks to my Prince.  The tables and the rail system are from Ikea.  We took two Ikea tables and clamped them together to make a corner desk.  Then we took the Ikea rail system that they use for kitchens to make a great hanging spot for my supplies plus favorite pages.

Little Shop of Horrors

My daughter was a sensation last night in her Junior High School Show.  So many people came up to me after the show to tell me she nailed the part perfectly as Audrey.  Can't wait to see it again as the show runs all week!

Audrey played by my daughter Emily
